CFD Fine Jewelry is designed, owned and operated by Caroline Forrester Downes. Downes grew up surrounded by art, influenced by her mother, father, and grandmother, all of whom taught her how to paint, build and create. She began making jewelry at the young age of 13, by crafting and selling one-of-a-kind sterling silver earrings and necklaces. Downes went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, concentrating in Graphic Design, and began her career designing apparel, advertising campaigns, and product labels.
After a few years of creating 2-dimensional artwork for the masses, Downes realized her true passion still lay within creating small, personal objects that hold sentimental value to whomever wears it. She realized metal was her true medium, not a computer screen.
Caroline left her Graphic Design career behind and began studying at Creative Metalworks School of Design to pursue her life-long dream of being a goldsmith.
Downes opened a brick & mortar studio space in March of 2016, located in the heart of downtown Berlin, Maryland. Since then, CFD Fine Jewelry has been seen in boutiques, as well as online shops, trunk shows, pop-up shops, and fine craft art festivals all over the East Coast.
